Lace

Lace is so in right now!! After Kate Middleton wore her famous lace wedding dress, so many copied it within hours!!

Replika of Kate's dress

More lace gowns

I think lace is just so sexy and feminine. If you wear it the right way, it'll look really gorgeous. However, if you wear it wrong, you'll look like you're wearing your grandma's tablecloth XD

Lace has been around for centuries. The open holes pattern is romantic and pretty!

Celebrities donning the lace look

Black lace is especially sexy...

Blake Lively, Hayden Panettiere and Emma Watson

 Dakota Fanning

Taylor Swift

I like how it has a mysterious effect...like it's translucent and left some to the imagination *laughs*

I have a few lace blouses and I think it's time to wear it out more often =))

Malaysian fans

I blogged about my trip to stadium Bukit Jalil for the Chelsea training HERE and match HERE
What I didn't mention was about the fans of Malaysia.

I read The Star's newspaper about an article in the Sports pages of how bad behaviour Malaysian fans have. I couldn't agree more. During the Malaysia vs Singapore match recently, the fans were acting maliciously by pointing lasers towards the Singaporean goalkeeper. This is not the first time such incident happened. On top of that, they kept boo-ing the Singaporean squad.

I truly believe that in a true sportsmanship, we must all be fair and if the better team deserves to win, they deserve to win. Similarly, during the Chelsea's match, Malaysian fans kept boo-ing Yossi Benayoun just because he's from Israel. You know, I kept wondering why they boo-ed him until I found out that he was from Israel. You shouldn't mix politics with sports!

Besides, since we were late, there were not many seats left and so happened we found seats at the Malaysia fans' area. I only found out a bit later because they kept cheering when Chelsea almost scored but didn't. So I was wondering, didn't they buy tickets to come to see Chelsea score? And when Chelsea scored, my area went silent. Then I heard remarks dissing Chelsea players and sort of. Okay, I  know I should be patriotic and all, but Chelsea is the visiting team for their Asian Tour and they visited here because they know they have many fans here. So, its not right to diss people and then boo Benayoun until Chelsea have to file a complaint against us -.-

But, it is also good to know that the Malaysian fans are starting to have faith in our Harimau Malaya. The sold out stadium on the day Malaysia played Singapore was a great impact to our football history. Also, if you heard the radio, there were full of supporting comments for our Malaysian squad the whole day! Just that, I think we should respect other people as well. You can always support our Malaysian team as much as you want without the need of boo-ing other people.

Bye Bye Summer

So summer is officially over for me. My schedule goes back to normal (praise the lord!) and while I'll miss the Fridays off I WILL NOT miss the 10 hour days I had to work. So even though we still have to make it through this last brutal month of August in TX my summer is DUNZO! I love so many things about summer and I've compiled this post as an ode to all those things. So here it is,the hairstyles, the clothes, the sports, the treats, the brunches, the leisure, the swimming, & everything else that makes me think of summer, summer, summertime *sang in my Will Smith voice*! :p

CariBilik.com is Now iBilik.com

Searching for rooms to rent or short term rentals?
iBilik(formerly known as CariBilik) is a Malaysian Travel Website with over 70, 000 listings throughout Malaysia!

For renters, this is the best solution website to find suitable placement and caters for those locally or even those from overseas. Some who work monthly or just here for a short vacation stay may prefer to rent rooms as hotel rooms are much more expensive. In addition, there is a homey atmosphere =)

If you click on a preferred room, you will get a description, the price of the rent, who to contact and sometimes you'll even get pictures and a map with it!

There is even a tab under the short term rentals for the 'cheapest rentals'! Hence, if you are on a really tight budget, this is the best place to find the cheapest room to rent =))

Oh, also, you can post up an ad looking for rooms to rent and you may get a reply from owners who are interested! All you have to do is to register with the website. Isn't that so convenient?

Read These Now

The Ex-Debutante

Author-Linda Francis Lee
The Gist- An ex Texas debutante comes back home, after running away to Boston, to help handle her mother's divorce and the disasterous debutante ball.
What I Loved- I'm a sucker for anything Texas related and it had a very cute ending. It was a tad predictable but it was good, light reading.

Spoiled

Author-Heather Cocks
The Gist-Spoiled daughter of a celebrity suddenly finds out she has a half sister she never knew about. The half sister finds out she has a spoiled half sister she never knew about. Drama ensues!
What I Love- This book has SERIOUS series potential! I can see it being turned into multiple books and maybe even a TV show. The drama between the two sisters was great and many of the supporting characters were actually funny and well written too.

Bumped

Author-Megan McCafferty
The Gist- A world where people become infertile at age 18 and teenage girls are the most prized people in society. The girls auction off their "services" to people and get money etc... in exchange for having babies.
What I Love- The concept of this book was brilliant. I must admit though, there were some things I really didn't like about this book. I think McCafferty could have executed it in a better way. That being said, I am recommending it because I think she deserves the chance to redeem herself with the second book.

The Luxe

Author-Anna Godbersen
The Gist- Gossip Girl meets Dangerous Liasons meets The Age of Innocence. The end.
What I Loved- The drama! Haha. When I say it is Gossip Girl, I mean, IT IS GOSSIP GIRL. There is a different level of drama since it is set in Manhatton in the late 1800s but it still works. There are 4 books in the series, Luxe is the first. I should mention that the creators of Gossip Girl are actually planning to bring this show to the CW as well.

The Lying Game

Author-Sara Shepard (Think Pretty Little Liars)
The Gist- Twin sisters switch lives. OK, way more complicated than that but I don't want to give anything away.
What I Love- This book has good series potential written all over it. There are some serious twists and turns that happen towards the end that set things up for a good series. This book, like everything else I read, is also being turned into a TV show airing on ABC Family next month.

Summer and the City

Author-Candace Bushnell
The Gist- Book 2 in The Carrie Diaries series. We get to follow young Carrie Bradshaw around NYC and we get to see her meeting with Miranda!
What I Loved- Young Miranda was priceless! She was so funny and actually made me like her character a lot more. I should mention that this franchise is also being turned into a movie. I vote Blake Lively for Carrie!

The Jessica Darling Series

Author-Megan McCafferty
The Gist- We follow Jessica Darling from high school, through college, and then into adulthood. We see her life through her journals and get to take part in all her trials and tribulations.
What I Love- 1. I'm a sucker for books made up entirely of journal entries! 2. I'm a sucker for a good, dramatic, drawn out, love story. This series has both!

Twenties Girl

Author-Sophie Kinsella
The Gist- A girl is haunted by the ghost of her great aunt (who grew up in the 20s).
What I Love- This book was so amusing! I expect nothing less than hilarity from Kinsella but I really enjoyed this book. It was fun reading about all the trouble seeing the ghost of your great aunt can get you into!

Identical

Author-Ellen Hopkins
The Gist- Through poems we follow the lives of 2 twin girls and all their drama.
What I Love- The main thing I love about Ellen Hopkins is the way she writes. She tells the stories through poetry instead of the standard way of writing books. The twist at the end of this book was COMPLETELY unexpected and brilliant!!! Don't read anything about it because it will spoil it for you!

The Sociopath Next Door

Author- Martha Stout, PhD
The Gist-People are crazy! Haha. No really though, people are nuts. 25% of the population are sociopaths. That is scary.
What I Loved- She compiled stories and research from her 25 years of working as a psychiatrist and provides great insight into a broad range of sociopaths. It was interesting to read about the many forms that a sociopath can take. They aren't always blood thirsty killers.

The Walsh Family Series

Author-Marian Keyes
The Gist- You follow 4 of the 5 (hoping there shall be a book 5!) Walsh sisters through their lives. Each book is dedicated to a certain sister and brings a different dynamic.
What I Love- Anybody Out There is one of the best books I've ever read. It is probably the most serious of the series but still has all the charm and amusement Keyes is known for. All the books are pretty much hilarious!

Feed

Author- Mira Grant
The Gist-Zombies are everywhere. Zombies eat your brains. People hunt zombies. The end.
What I Love- This book takes the zombie story to a completely different level. It is a brilliant look at modern day media and politics with amusing zombie stories thrown in. There are a couple of brilliant surprises at the end too.
