Pools, Planks, and Party People

"Can we celebrate our independence from Britain by never mentioning Pippa Middleton again? That would be great."

Now that we're all back at work and recovering from the long weekend (extra long in my case, 5 days off!) I figured I should do a post! I was considering doing one yesterday but decided lounging by the pool sounded like more fun! My weekend came together brilliantly and I had one of the best holidays ever! Thursday was my first day off in my EXTRA long weekend and I did nothing but read and run a few errands. It was just nice to have a break from the long 10 hour days I work in the summer.

The fun really began on Friday night, one of my best friends, Paul, to a random martini bar. Now, one would think a martini bar would be classy right? Um, WRONG!!!!!! It was one of the most ridiculous places I've ever been to. EVER! They had no coke, red bull, or flavored vodka! I think they had about 3 different types of alcohol and that's it!!!! Luckily, I persuaded the bartender to send a minion off to the corner store to get some mixers for drinks. I felt like I was at a house party! Aside from the horrid drink selection the place provided quite a bit of entertainment. The music was amazing and even though there were maybe 15 people in the whole place the night was a blast!

Saturday my roomie decided to go hang with her family in Killeen and so I decided to head out to The Colony to spend some quality time with my friend Kelsey. She lives in this amazing complex that is basically it's own little city. It has bars, convenience stores, etc... and is HUGE! We spent the night out at one of the best bars there, Zen Austin Ranch. That is when the madness began!

Do you see how this is NOT A PLANK!?!?

Backstory: There's this idiotic craze sweeping the nation ( by nation I mean Twitter and Facebook) where people are "planking". People basically lie down on the most random thing they can find and take a picture. They call it planking but it IS NOT PLANKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry but years of pilates and a recent venture into yoga have helped me understand what an actual plank is and what people are doing is NOT a plank!!! Now we return to our regularly scheduled programming!

Planking throughout the USA! Haha.

While at Zen my friends and I decided we were going to do real planks! That's where the pic below came from? We were planking all over The Colony! We planked at an empty bank, a random building, and all throughout her complex and the bar. Bahaha. Yes, I'm aware that's ridiculous but they were awesome! I even had one dude tell me he was super impressed by my planking with one leg. Thanks Yoga!

After our exciting night of planking we then woke up and spent the day with some of Kelsey's fabulous coworkers at The Omni Hotel pool in downtown FTW. It was amazing. I've never spent a summer day at a hotel pool and I must say I could get used to it. It was such a great way to spend the day! I got to meet some really amazing people and that is always a plus. After a day in the sun we went to a very chill bar inside her complex and had a fun low key night.

The calm before the pool got packed!

We spent our July 4th having an epic, and I do mean epic, pool party with her complex. It was so much freaking fun! People were friendly and there was plenty of dancing, drinking, and sun to keep people happy! An added bonus was the fact that there were NO kids in the pool! Yall don't know how much that meant to me. It was simply a nice grownup fun time. The lovely thing was that no one was acting a damn fool. Don't get me wrong, people were drinking, and some were drunk but no one was out of hand.

That is an actual pic of the pool. It is so badass! And yes, it has been on The Dirty. Haha.

All in all this weekend was amazing. I truly enjoyed getting to spend some one on one time with one of my good friends. I don't get to see her as much and we haven't ever really spent an entire weekend together hanging out! It's always good to bond with friends! I hope everyone else had a fun weekend! I'm sad that summer is already half over but I'm definitely going to take advantage and soak up more sun!
