So yesterday one of my friends mentioned their love of Dirty Sexy Money and that got me to thinking, whatever happened to...

Pushing Daisies

Premise-"A pie-maker, with the power to bring dead people back to life, solves murder mysteries with his alive-again childhood sweetheart, a cynical private investigator, and a lovesick waitress."

Ridiculous, cute, funny, charming, great cast, and of course it gets canceled, OF COURSE!!! I will never understand how things like The Bachelor are on their 100th season (exaggeration I know) but things like this die.

Veronica Mars

Premise-"After her best friend is murdered and her father is removed as county sheriff, Veronica Mars dedicates her life to cracking the toughest mysteries in the affluent town of Neptune."

Let me start by saying Kirsten Bell is one of my favorite people. She's adorable, a great actress, and the voice of Gossip Girl and if that doesn't sell you then I don't know what will. Her show was a bit random with her solving crimes with her high school crew but it was so great. It may have just been a bit ahead of its time or it needed a different channel to be on but it ended way too soon IMO.

4400 and Heroes

Premise 4400-"As the reappearance of 4,400 missing persons on a single day confounds the global community, federal agents on the case slowly discover the ways in which the victims have been changed."

Basically all these kidnapped folks come back with special powers and abilities! It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It came on USA, yeah I know, and was such a good show. The odd thing was A LOT of people actually liked that show and were upset that it was canceled yet they claim no one watched. I don't believe that. The thing that stings the most is, just like Popular, the season finale was EPIC and involved one of the main people disappearing again and it was never resolved! I have heard rumors for years of them doing a TV movie to clear things up but alas it has never happened.

Premise Heroes-"They thought they were like everyone else... until they woke with incredible abilities."

Pretty much the same idea as the 4400 except these people weren't kidnapped by aliens and some of them were super evil and fun! The first 2 seasons of this show was some of the best TV ever and then it sort of fizzled. I think it died because it lost a lot of its fan base by being incredibly horrible for 2 seasons!

Premise-"Two girls who despise each other, due to being on opposite sides of the "popularity fence", are forced together upon learning that their parents are getting married."

POPULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This show was so freaking fantastic and ahead of its time! It was a great show on the WB and had a great fanbase but then they moved it to Friday night! In the 90s if you wanted to kill a TV show that is how you did it!! Nothing killed a show quicker than moving it to Friday night, I mean, COME ON!!!! What kills me about this show *flings my hand to my forehead in the most dramatic fashion* is that they had one of the best season finales ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone is hit by a car and you never, ever, EVAHHHHHHHHH *Scarlett O'Hara voice* (yeah, I'm dramatic!) get to find out who did it!!!!!!!!!!! Why you ask? Well, because without warning WB CANCELED THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can run WB, you can hide, and you can even change your name to CW and give me greatness like Gossip Girl and Vampire Diaries but I shall never forgive you for canceling Popular!

Lipstick Jungle

Premise-"A look at the lives of Nico, Wendy, and Victory -- three of "New York's 50 Most Powerful Women," according to The New York Post."
According to IMDB that's the premise and I would say that sums it up. You basically have your married with kids woman, single younger girl, and older single woman. This was based off a book written by Candace Bushnell (she brought us SATC) and I had high hopes for the show! I think the show itself was as good as it could be on network TV but I really wish it had been on HBO. I think being on cable would have helped it last a lot longer.

Flash Forward

Premise-"After the entire world's population blacks out for approximately 2 minutes and 17 seconds, which in effect causes the entire world to see a glimpse of life 6 months into the future, an elite FBI task force is formed to investigate who/what caused the global blackout, whether the events foreseen were simply flashes or true events of what's to come, and whether or not it could possibly happen again..."

I was so on board with this show! I thought the concept was so unique (well as unique as it could be considering it was a remake) and I loved the cast but I guess it just didn't sit right with people. I don't really know anyone that watched it and I'm not sure if it even lasted an entire season.

Rome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Premise-Instead of looking this up let me sum it up for you, it's Rome in the time of Julius Caeser with lots of blood, guts, and sex; the end. It was on HBO so you know I'm not lying when I say that every other scene was killing or sex, however, the show was awesome! Apparently HBO decided it was too expensive to keep filming the show and they canceled it, for which I will never forgive them (although they are moderately winning my love back with Game of Thrones and True Blood).

The Nine

Premise-"Nine people, mostly strangers to each other, are linked together when they are held hostage in a bank robbery gone wrong. In each episode, viewers learn new details of the 52-hour standoff, of which only brief snippets are seen.
The pilot episode establishes the events which the rest of the series will embellish. Two men enter the bank, armed, and quickly restrain both the security guard and an off-duty police officer. Viewers see details of what brought each person to the bank that day.
Some time after the end of the standoff, the former hostages arrange a meeting with one another in an effort to stay in touch and help each other. Various characters also form relationships apart from the group and maintain regular contact with each other during the week, while others are connected through relationships that predate the events in the bank."

THIS SHOW WAS EPIC! I was hooked after one episode and I honestly don't know how it was canceled! OK, let me rephrase that, I do know how it was canceled, no one watched it! I honestly don't know why no one watched it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I literally know one other person who watched this show (shout out to Priscilla!) and we both loved it!!! I don't think it could have lasted long term but they definitely could have gotten at least 2 or 3 seasons out of it! The amount of crazy drama that was in those first episodes was enough to hook anyone if they would have given it a chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Ex List

Premise-"A woman explores all of her past relationships after a psychic tells her she's already dated her future husband."

This show was adorable and actually funny!!! I have never been a fan of CBS shows, minus The Bold and the Beautiful (don't judge me) and this was the first one I actually liked and of course it was canceled! Again, it came on Friday nights and you already know how I feel about that.

Dirty Sexy Money

Premise-"The series revolves around Nick George, whose whole life has been lived in the shadow of the Darling family, but as an adult he's leading a simple life as an idealistic lawyer, until his father's suspicious death. The wealthy Darlings of New York have asked him to take over his father's job as their personal lawyer, but the money that will allow him the freedom to be an altruistic do-gooder is only part of the picture. That same money pulls him into the dubious doings of the Darling clan. However due to the cancellation of the show, the running plot line of the mystery of Dutch George will never be solved as it is revealed in the final episode that he is in fact alive and well and is puppeteering Simon Elder."

Woe is me, Lord have Mercy, Jesus take the wheel, I can't think about today, I'll think about that tomorrow, because tomorrow is another day, and any other over the top dramatic line you can think of still won't put into words the feeling I have about the cancellation of this show! This show literally had everything you need to make a good drama. Family drama, a love triangle, the black sheep of the powerful family, the daughter that goes to rehab, the drunken mother, evil father, and even a beautiful transgender character! Dirty Sexy Money was literally everything my over-dramatic heart could dream of and what did they do, cancelled it!! For the life of me I will never understand why either A. no one watched this show or B. ABC decided to be jerks and cancel it! You know, I'm starting to sense a theme here with ABC and they're beginning to irk me! A number of shows I enjoyed were on that channel and don't even get me started about the cancellation of All My Children.

So there you have it, a list of my favorite shows that were canceled too soon. We won't even talk about things like Freaks and Geeks, Alex Mack, Arrested Development, and the countless other shows that died before their time! I'd like to say I blame reality TV for ruining all these great shows but I think I'll stick with an old favorite and just blame Rick Perry ;)
