A Little Nostalgia...

Many of my blog posts stem from conversations I have with people and today's post is no different. This weekend I was having a chat with my roomie and somehow we got on the subject of cologne. We were talking about what we find sexiest on a man and she looked at me and said "I miss the days when all the boys wore that one cologne. You know the one they made for girls too." I immediately knew what she was talking about...Curve!! I then took to Twitter and mentioned I missed those days and got some replies from other girls agreeing with me! So today's post is brought to you by some of the random things I remember from my high school years. So let's take a little trip down memory lane to the years 1999-2003.

All the boys smelled like Curve

Before every boy smelled like Axe they smelled like Curve and boy do I miss those days! Curve is one of the most delicious smelling scents I've ever smelled on a man. I'm pretty sure every boy I encountered from age 14-19 wore that cologne. I miss that.

Free gifts from clinique

Free gifts from Clinique! OK, I don't know if this was just at my school but those free gifts they gave out every couple of months were like crack to the girls I knew. People knew exactly when the free gifts were going to come out and then promptly went to go get them! Along with that, every single girl I knew smelled like Clinique Happy!

Tommy Hilfiger rules the world.

To be honest, I couldn't care less if Tommy Hilfger ever gets as much love as he got back when I was in high school BUT his overalls were amazing!! I loved those damn things. I am still unsure why I was so obsessed with them but I was and I think one in 3 girls I knew had a pair of them.

Belly button rings

I can still remember when the first girl I knew got a belly button ring! I mean belly button rings were everything to some folks. I was never really into them in high school but you were kind of the beez neez if you could get one while under 18.

It's Britney Bitch/MTV still played music...kind of.

I think the rise of pop music that came about in the late 90s and early 2000s can be blamed/attributed to TRL. At that time TRL was pretty much the only way a person could see videos and catch the occasional crazy rant from our favorite artists (yeah I'm talking about the Mariah ice cream cart incident). The reigning pop queen at the time was obviously Ms. Spears and I can genuinely say I miss the days when she was hot and sane! She's definitely sane again but the level of hotness she had back then is a thing of the past.

"Girl done went from The Mickey Mouse Club to the strip club!"

SNAKE!!!

Before birds got angry and friends with words there was Snake!!! The amount of battles I witnessed and participated in when I was supposed to be paying attention in class is ridiculous. To this date I still love that game. I'm not sure if it's still available on phones but if it was I could still kick people's a**! :D

Remember when you could fill your car up for about $15?

I remember people freaking out when gas went up to like $1.07. Don't we all wish we could go back to that?!

Life without reality TV

I blame Survivor! It premiered in 2001 but I remember the days when actual television shows came on. Now every other new show is a reality TV show.

Above all I miss the carefree attitude that you can only have when you have absolutely no responsibilities! It is one of life's cruel jokes that you don't realize how good you have it as a kid/teenager until you're grown up!
