Sorry but I'm going to go ahead and call bullshit on this one. Her album was on sale on Amazon not once but twice for the price of 99 cents! I feel that all those records sold should not be counted in this number. It isn't fair. For a long time I've been annoyed with the records they keep for album sales and movie openings because I don't think it is legitimate. You can't even compare album sales now to the ones in the 90s let alone 30, 40, 50 years ago.

I read an article that said people were simply bitter that Gaga sold so many albums and I have to say I think that's a pretty childish attitude to take about the whole thing. The article's main points were:
1. People are bitter because she's so successful
2. The album was going to have huge numbers anyway
3. In the age of illegal downloading her big numbers should be even more respected
4. Gaga had nothing to do with the Amazon promotion.
So let's just go ahead and hit all these points one by one.
#1 I'm not bitter friend. In fact, I knew who Lady Gaga was before almost every other person I know. I was jamming The Fame and watching her on The Hills (yeah bet you didn't know about that!) many moons ago. Her success makes me happy because I'm not one of those fans that want to keep artists I love to myself. I definitely preferred her sound back then to her sound now but the girl is a hustler and I respect her work ethic so she deserves success. I just don't feel this specific honor was legit.

Gagaloo on The Hills
#2 The album was certainly going to open huge and no one is arguing that but here's a little bit of info you might not have known. Over 300,000 copies of the album sold were sold at the 99 cent Amazon price. So ummmmm yeah, while it would have been huge it would not have been record breaking; just throwing that out there. The main issue is people want me to give her so much praise and respect her for breaking a record when really I don't buy it. Most of the people I know ONLY bought the album BECAUSE it was 99 cents! To be honest with you, I don't even think it was worth that! I wasn't even planning to buy it but figured it what the hell it is less than a dollar!

#3 Bitch please! People have been illegal downloading for quite some time now. While we probably won't see albums selling over 2 million copies again the illegal downloading isn't really hurting people. I mean let's be real. Artists make their money touring and selling merchandise, record companies make money of albums. I don't really feel bad for Gagaloo because the ho is rich! I mean the ho sold a million copies of an album that leaked some time before it was released. I don't think illegal downloading is hurting her.

#4 Ummmmm OK then! If she had nothing to do with it let's not count those cds sold! How about that?! Yes, Amazon sells albums for 99 cents from time to time (usually with albums that aren't doing well) but I find it hard to believe that neither the artist nor any of her management, record company, etc... know nothing about it. That's just ridiculous; especially when you consider that it was on sale not once but twice at that price.

Look, I get it. Gaga runs the world and I'm supposed to accept it and not question it, EVER! Whatever, I'm just saying I think all this hype over her album sales is questionable. I am very happy to congratulate her on her 700,000 albums sold though! Now I'd like her to take 2 years off and come back bringing me some music that sounds more like Money Honey and less like Judas!
