Beauty Queens- Libba Bray

From bestselling, Printz Award-winning author Libba Bray, the story of a plane of beauty pageant contestants that crashes on a desert island.
Teen beauty queens. A "Lost"-like island. Mysteries and dangers. No access to email. And the spirit of fierce, feral competition that lives underground in girls, a savage brutality that can only be revealed by a journey into the heart of non-exfoliated darkness. Oh, the horror, the horror! Only funnier. With evening gowns. And a body count.
That's the description from Goodreads and it honestly doesn't do it justice. The book is simply put, hilarious. It is a satire on modern day pop culture and the amount of actual LOL lines in the book is astounding. I spent a great deal of time laughing my a** off at some of the stuff the girls were saying. I cannot recommend this book enough and if you haven't read it I suggest you do! This is seriously one of my top 5 favorite books and that is saying a lot so go get it now!!
Single Ladies!!

This is Vh1's first scripted show and I was reluctant to watch it but it has turned out to be pleasantly surprising. I saw an interview from the show's creator a while ago and she said that a lot of the stuff that happened on the show/stuff the male characters say has actually happened to her while navigating the dating world. Knowing that and seeing the first two episodes has made me like the show even more. I mean some of the stuff is simply ridiculous. The show centers around 3 friends who represents the age ranges from 20s-40s and how they handle their dating lives. It is such a clever show and is actually very good. The first episode was 2 hours and started out kind of rocky but ended up being fabulous and the 2nd episode was just great!
You can catch episodes here and I suggest you give it a try and at least watch the first episode! Also, since the show is set in Atlanta pretty much every major black music artist that lives in ATL was on the premiere episode. It was kind of fun playing spot the celeb! However, you should prepare yourself for the level of obsession you will develop about Stacey Dash! No really, everyone I know who watches the show has become obsessed with her. I don't know what kind of deal she's made with the devil but she's 45 and looks like this...

Hate her! Haha.
Anyway, just a little friendly advice so if you get a free minute check both of these things out!
