The Grammar, Things, People, & Fashion I Loved/Hated in 2010

OK, so it's NYE 2010 and I can't believe that this year is already over. I know people always say this but this year has passed by quicker than any I can remember. I'm thinking it's because I moved to Dallas and got a new job and everything in my life is just kind of coming together. It's nice. Anyway, since I'm not big on resolutions I thought it would be fun to do a post of all the things/people etc... that made me fall in love/annoyed me a great deal in 2010.

Annoyances...

First and foremost, let's all work together to learn (98%)/teach (2%) the proper usage of your and you're. I am really APPALLED that so many people do not grasp this concept. I mean REALLY PEOPLE!!!! Here are some handy dandy definitions that you should bookmark and save for a later time, just in case you don't understand the usage.

via The Oatmeal

1.Remember "you're" is a contraction, which is two words put together. "You" is combined with "are" to make "you're". The little ' takes the place of the missing a. In a sentence, it should still make sense if you replace "you're" with "you are".

2."Your" is possessive. Use this spelling when describing something that is possessed by the second person. "Your car is on fire," for example.

3."You're mother called this morning" is incorrect, because "You are mother called this morning" does not make sense. So the proper usage is "YOUR mother called this morning."

So now that we've handled that definition can everyone strive to use it properly in 2011! We'll deal with their/they're/there and too/to at a later date. Haha!

All the obvious news reports! I loved how everyone was 'breaking' news that everyone already knew. Eddie and LeAnn, Mariah and Rachel Zoe being preggers, Eva and Tony getting divorced etc... Lets try and actually BREAK stories in 2011 BEFORE everyone already knows.

Celebrity Twitter beefs. WHERE ARE THE PUBLICISTS?!?!!?

The ladies and fashion I loved...

While she's very casual in her personal style when she has an event that girl steps up her game! I loved this look.

Resort 2011 collection for Louis Vuitton! LOVE

The Lanvin for H&M collection. This was made even better by H&M coming to Dallas!

Carey Mulligan really emerged as a budding fashionista. I love the pixie hairstyle too.

I never paid much attention to her until she married Nik Richie. She's got an adorable little style too.

Lauren Conrad really stepped it up this year. I like the way she throws outfits together and always looks comfy yet stylish.

Quintessential California girl style. I love it. She also manages to make crop tops look cute. Ha!

Blake Lively! I discovered she doesn't have a stylist this year and boy does she have an eye for clothes. LOVE her.

The costumes Rodarte did for Black Swan. UH-MAZING!!!!

Michelle Williams FAB new haircut.

Some of my obsessions in 2010...

Emily from Cupcakes&Cashmere. I still don't remember how I stumbled across her blog but I really enjoy it. She can be a bit sporadic with the posting but I do love her style and enjoy some of the recipes she randomly posts too. I'm also a huge fan of anyone that loves cupcakes. Ha!

I fell in love with Ray Bans this year.

The fabulous Don Draper. I've loved Mad Men for a while but I really LOVED him this season. He was sassy as hell once he stopped being mopey.

I really dove into the Jane Green novels this year.

Rachel Cohn and Adam Levithan books! They wrote Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist too. Just an FYI.

Goodreads, loving this site. It's an avid readers favorite site.

Discovered a love of running that I'm hoping to pursue more throughout 2011.

Blogging! I love the art of picking out pics and content for posts on this site and Tumblr. It's a really fun way for me to express myself and with Tumblr I can just post random things I love. I enjoy it.

The wonder that is the library! I've had a card since I was 8 but I was spending a lot of money buying books and then I remembered the library has them for free! It's a lovely system. I need to start donating more to the public library next year.

And my obsession that shall never go away...

CUPCAKES!!!!

I hope yall all have a safe & amazing night out and if you're staying in, like I am, I hope you have an amazing night as well! I'm excited for 2011 and for my bday next week! Thinking the late 20s might be alright! Although, I'm only turning 26 and I still get carded so I may begin lying about my age! So I'm turning 21! Haha.
