BEST PICTURE EVER

Opening video, it was amusing.
Let me begin this post by saying I rarely watch the Oscars or the Grammys. I just don't like the way their voting is done. I'm more into awards shows based on the people's votes or record sales etc... I usually watch the red carpet then call it a day with these shows. I'll turn to watch if I know a big performance/category is coming up but really that's it. So of course, I didn't watch the Oscars on Sunday night and with Twitter I didn't really need to! I thought it would be interesting to do a post based on the topics that blew up my Twitter feed from that night.
TOP TWEETS
1. Melissa Leo dropping an F bomb!
2. James Franco's behavior
3. Anne Hathaway's dress changes.
4. People thinking The Social Network would win best picture
5. How boring the whole damn thing was.
6. Red carpet fashion.
7. Kelly Osborne's hair.
So let's go ahead and hit all these topics then! We shall dive right in with F bombs and odd behavior.
My thoughts about 1/2 pretty much go together. I find it refreshing that Leo dropped the F bomb because that was spontaneous, genuine, emotion! That's so rare in an acceptance speech, ESPECIALLY at the Oscars. I feel like all those speeches are so rehearsed, even when they are crying their eyes out. It was nice to see some real live excitement and who cares if it wasn't very PC. She was already issuing statements and apologies before the show was half way over. I really didn't feel it was that serious.
From what I've gathered it seemed as if James was on some type of drug. The little bits and pieces I watched it seemed like he was acting the same way he always does. When I asked my coworker, who watched the entire show, what she thought of James Franco's behavior she said "I felt that he was acting like James Franco." EXACTLY! James Franco is an odd one. I personally think this is part of his charm, that and his sexy ass, ha! Anyway, I feel that people should know this by now and if they don't that's on them.
Annie's Outfits
I'm a huge fan of Anne Hathaway. I have been since her Princess Diaries days and she forever became a favorite once she was in The Devil Wears Prada. So I was very happy to hear she would be hosting the Oscars. Her little performance with Hugh Jackman last year or the year before made the night so I knew she'd be great! Regardless of your opinion on her performance as host I think most people can agree her outfit changes were great! Anyway, Anne's outfit changes made me ever so happy! I think she looked lovely in most of her looks and that last dress was UH-MAZING!!!! Rachel Zoe did a wonderful job dressing her.
The Social Network not winning the big one!

This genuinely baffled me. There was simply no way it was going to win best picture. NO WAY. I kept telling people this and they kept acting like I was crazy. If you know anything about the Oscars or Oscar voting you should have known this wasn't going to happen. Usually the Golden Globes are a good indicator of who will win Oscars but not this year, in this particular category. Oscar voters care very little about who other people think should win. I kind of find this to be refreshing. This also solidifies what I've been telling people for a while, Natalie Portman was AMAZING in Black Swan!!! She is more deserving of her Oscar than a lot of people I can think of over the years.
Boring!
Um, where has everyone been? The show is boring. It's always boring. Isn't that part of it's charm? Haha. I mean I honestly wouldn't go if I wasn't nominated so the fact that people sit at home and watch baffles me. Again, this is one of those complaints that bother me because it's just like the James Franco thing. You know what you're in for before you sign up. The end!
Fashion!
So I was holding out hope that the Oscars would salvage this award season as far as fashion was concerned. I was very wrong. I found a couple of looks I liked but for the most part I was disappointed. I just kind of expected more from people. I feel like the fashion industry is going through some sort of crisis and I need them to beat it and come back better than ever. I'm starved for some real, legit, mind blowing, couture masterpieces. Anyway here are the ones I liked. I don't think there was anything I really loved, minus Anne Hathaway's closing dress. I also noticed, and was slightly annoyed by, the fact that a lot of the better looking dresses were at the Vanity Fair party. Um, OK! Your killer dress needs to be for the damn show, duh!
Gwyneth in Calvin Klein

Natalie Portman in Rodarte

Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa

Camilla Alves in Kaufman Franco

I was a very big fan of Halle's dress and the color of Mila's dress. I thought that there was a bit TOO much hype on Mila's dress though. It wasn't as amazing as everyone wanted me to believe.

Kelly's hair.

I hated it. That pretty much sums everything up. She's really been irking me lately because I don't think losing a bunch of weight makes you an authority on fashion. Apparently at E! this is not the case. You can form your own opinion on her hair. Although, the correct opinion is it sucks! Ha!

So there you have it, my thoughts on some of the big Twitter topics from the big night. In the end I think the whole thing was a bit predictable. There were no big surprises with winners, the show, or the fashion. The only category I truly cared about was best actress and the person I wanted to win, won. Yay Natalie!!! I'm hoping to see a step up in the fashion next year. So until we meet again Oscars, I wish I could say it's been fun but you left a little to be desired. You need to step your game up next year!
Big Winners. The actors/actresses categories.
