Skins vs. Being Human
Let's begin with the Being Human

It's basically a story of a Werewolf, Vampire, and a ghost. The werewolf and vampire are the two dudes (the vampire is sitting) and the ghost is the woman. The premise is that wolfie (my new name for the werewolf) and sexy mcbroody (my name for the vampire) are friends and work together and they move into a house where a woman was killed. The ghost is that woman and they discover her after living in the house for a while. I've never seen the British version so there's not much to compare it to but this show rocks! The first episode was very good and I was pleasantly surprised. The casting was great as well. Sexy McBroody is almost too hot, it borders on distracting but it's the perfect fit for a vampire. Wolfie is so adorable and while not extremely hot his character has a nice sarcastic quality that I enjoy.

I think this show shall end up being very good. It's an interesting twist to add the ghost into the mix since there are TONS of vampire/werewolf stories. I can also see a nice back story developing with the vampires on the show. They seem to have some kind of secret society going on or at least that's how it appeared on the first episode. It also seems like sexy mcbroody is from some kind of important vampire family. I can see this storyline providing a lot of drama and entertainment in the show. According to the previews for the season the show shall introduce more werewolves and another ghost to teach the ghost girl how to function better. The first episode was kind of just an introduction to all the people but it ended with a pretty good cliffhanger that I won't spoil for anyone! I suggest checking it out though. It's on syfy Mondays at 8.
Skins

Degrassi but sluttier. I am surprised they could even make a sluttier version of Degrassi mainly because that show is already pretty bad. I mean they had a 13 year old pregnancy story on Degrassi so um yeah. Anyway, I don't really think the show translated well. I have seen an episode or two of the original and it seems grittier. MTV sort of made all of these slutty, drug addicted teens seem fun and light. I don't really think that's a good thing.
After finishing the episode I realized I'm a little too old for this show. The antics of drug addicted, sex crazed adolescents kind of just made me sad for the future of the world. Sucks for me I guess! I can see the appeal of it for the children but I don't think it's going to be good in the long run. Kids, won't grasp the message, if any, that MTV is trying to send with this show. The first episode centers on them planning a party to get a friend laid since he's a 16 year old virgin. At one point the guy is all "being a virgin at 16 is not bad" and the friend says "it's embarassing!!" That was a fun moment! In that one premiere episode they had drug overdoses, fun with killing animals, car theft, drug dealing, naked neighbors, and sex. I guess all of this spells a good time!!

After seeing both my vote goes to Being Human. I think Skins is for children to be honest and by children I mean around 14-18. That is slightly disturbing considering the content but I suppose there's nothing to be done about that. I just think Being Human has more depth and a chance for a longer run as a show. That being said, one should never underestimate the power of MTV to brainwash its audience. So I suppose we shall see in the end.
